Dodgers activate Freddie Freeman from restricted list

The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated Freddie Freeman from the restricted list on Monday after the star first baseman missed eight games to be with his ill son.

Freeman departed the team before the July 26-28 road series against the Houston Astros due to his 3-year-old son, Maximus, falling ill and being hospitalized. Freeman initially went on the family emergency list on July 27 and was moved to the restricted list on Saturday.

Maximus Freeman, who had been in intensive care for eight days due to Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare neurological disorder, was able to return home on Sunday, as announced in a social media post by Freeman and his wife, Chelsea.
