The Victor Osimhen transfer drama continues as clubs compete for his services following Napoli’s confirmation that the striker has requested to leave the team.
Sporting director Giovanni Manna commented on Osimhen’s situation, stating: “He has requested to leave. We are confident because we have players who can adequately replace him. However, we want to maintain the integrity of the team and protect it. We will see how things develop in the coming days.”
Chelsea have long had an interest in Osimhen and have been negotiating with Napoli about a transfer. The club is optimistic about acquiring the Serie A top scorer from the 2022/23 season, potentially involving Romelu Lukaku in the deal.
Recent reports suggest that Chelsea and Napoli were planning to meet to finalize a transfer that would see Osimhen move permanently to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea resumed talks with the Italian club after a £35 million deal for Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion fell through.
Napoli is believed to value Osimhen at approximately £90 million and have proposed a deal involving around £25 million in cash for Lukaku, totaling about £115 million. However, Chelsea still assesses the Belgian striker at just under £40 million, meaning further negotiation will be needed to reconcile the fees.
Additionally, reaching an agreement could be more challenging as Osimhen’s preferred destination is not London. According to Sky Sports Germany, the Nigerian striker’s preferred choice is Paris Saint-Germain.
