DONE DEAL: Alabama lands first Green Bay 5-star commitment in transfer portal flip just now

Alabama Basketball secured its first commitment for the 2025 recruiting class as four-star small forward Amari Allen from Green Bay, Wisconsin committed to head coach Nate Oats on Tuesday.

According to the 247-composite rankings, Allen is listed as the 98th best player nationally and is widely considered a four-star recruit. Standing 6-foot-7, Allen is a skilled sharpshooting wing with the potential to be a secondary ball-handler at the next level. This summer, while playing in the Adidas 3Stripes Select Basketball circuit, he shot 41% from beyond the arc, averaging nearly 17 points per game. 247 recognized him as one of the top-performing wings at the event.

Allen poses a scoring threat from all areas of the court, and he’s known for his passing and rebounding ability. You can watch his highlights from the 3SSB below. Preston Murphy, who has consistently played a key role in landing top talent for the Crimson Tide, was the lead recruiter for Allen.

Alabama missed out on landing Jasper Johnson last week when he chose to stay in-state with Kentucky, but it didn’t take long for the Crimson Tide to secure its first commitment of the 2025 recruiting class. With significant roster turnover expected after this season, head coach Nate Oats is in for a busy recruiting period.

Seniors like Mark Sears, Grant Nelson, Latrell Wrightsell, Chris Youngblood, and Clifford Omoruyi will all be departing, and Alabama could also see several players leave early for the NBA or enter the transfer portal. As a result, the Tide is likely looking to bring in a high school recruiting class of five to six players, while also targeting top talent in the transfer portal.

Alabama’s recruiting momentum is strong, especially after last season’s Final Four appearance and the high expectations surrounding the 2024-25 roster.
