An early injury to Wisconsin’s starting quarterback, Tyler Van Dyke, further diminished their already slim upset hopes against No. 4 Alabama. The Crimson Tide showcased their dominance, leaving Camp Randall Stadium with a commanding 42-10 win.
The Badgers needed to play a nearly flawless game to have any chance of beating Alabama, and that task became even more difficult without their quarterback. A late hit during the opening drive sidelined Van Dyke with a leg injury, forcing redshirt sophomore Braedyn Locke to step in.

Despite Van Dyke’s injury, the Badgers opened the game with a strong start, taking an early 3-0 lead thanks to a 53-yard field goal by Nathanial Vakos. However, turnovers by running backs Chez Mellusi and Cade Yacamelli proved costly, as Alabama capitalized on both fumbles to score touchdowns.
Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe lived up to expectations, showcasing his talent by completing 12 of 17 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 75 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries, solidifying his status as one of college football’s standout players.
Van Dyke was unable to return to the game, later appearing on the sidelines with crutches and a leg brace. Redshirt sophomore Braedyn Locke stepped in, completing 13 of 26 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown, though Wisconsin’s offense continued to struggle with generating big plays, an issue that has plagued them all season.
Will Pauling scored Wisconsin’s only touchdown in the third quarter on a three-yard pass from Locke, marking his first of the season.
The Badgers now have a bye week before facing No. 11 USC on the road in a challenging Big Ten opener on September 28.
