Wisconsin’s starting quarterback, Tyler Van Dyke, was taken off the field after suffering an injury during the opening drive against No. 4 Alabama on Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin. At halftime, Wisconsin confirmed that Van Dyke would not return for the rest of the game. Van Dyke, a redshirt senior who transferred from Miami, sustained a possible right leg injury while scrambling on a third-down play. Sophomore Braedyn Locke, who started three games for the Badgers last season when Tanner Mordecai was injured, took over.
In Wisconsin’s first two wins against Western Michigan and South Dakota, Van Dyke completed 38 of 63 passes (60.3 percent) for 406 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. The severity of his injury has yet to be disclosed.
