The Washington Commanders are looking for a better outcome in Sunday’s home opener against the New York Giants, and they’ll have some new faces on the field.
On Saturday, the team made changes to the roster, replacing veterans Byron Pringle and Emmanuel Forbes Jr. They signed veteran linebacker Nick Bellore, who stood out in last week’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, leading special teams with 63 percent of the snaps. Bellore spent five seasons with the Seahawks under Washington’s new special teams coach Larry Izzo. Additionally, the Commanders promoted cornerback Bobby Price and defensive end Carlos Watkins from the practice squad. Price will help cover for Forbes, who is sidelined after thumb surgery, while Watkins fills in for Jer’Zhan Newton, who remains out with a foot injury.
