There’s promising news for Alabama football ahead of their first road game. No. 4 Alabama is expected to have left tackle Kadyn Proctor back in action. Sources confirm that Proctor, who missed the first two games due to a shoulder injury, plans to play against Wisconsin. Alabama (2-0) will face Wisconsin (2-0) this Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium (11 a.m. CT, FOX).
“He’s been practicing and doing well,” Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said during the SEC coaches teleconference. “He made significant progress at the end of last week and is in a good spot now, having performed well in practice.”
Proctor, who started all of his freshman season in 2023, initially transferred to Iowa after Nick Saban’s retirement but returned to Alabama. He earned his starting left tackle position during preseason camp and was set to play in the opener against Western Kentucky before a shoulder injury during warmups sidelined him. Elijah Pritchett stepped in to replace him.
In Alabama’s second game against South Florida, Pritchett was also dealing with an injury, so Tyler Booker moved to left tackle, allowing Geno VanDeMark to start at left guard. The offensive line struggled throughout the game, with several penalties, particularly holding, contributing to Alabama’s overall difficulties.
Proctor’s return could allow Booker to shift back to his usual left guard spot, and Pritchett might see time at right tackle. Wilkin Formby started the first two games at right tackle, but struggled against South Florida, leading the offensive line in penalties along with VanDeMark.
