According to several reports, Georgia offensive lineman Tate Ratledge is likely to miss the Sept. 28 game at Alabama due to leg injuries sustained during the team’s recent game. Ratledge, a third-year starter and last season’s first-team All-SEC guard, suffered a sprained MCL and a sprained ankle in Georgia’s 13-12 win over Kentucky. He was helped off the field and didn’t return.
“I was told it’s an ankle and knee injury, but I don’t know which is worse or how severe it is,” said Georgia coach Kirby Smart during his postgame remarks.
Although Ratledge is expected to miss several weeks, he is not expected to be out for the season. Georgia (3-0, 1-0 SEC) has a bye this week before facing Alabama on Sept. 28. Junior Micah Morris stepped in for Ratledge at right guard, while starting right tackle Xavier Truss may move to guard, with sophomore Monroe Freeling potentially taking over at tackle.
