Boston Bruins’ top goalie, Jeremy Swayman, won’t be on the ice at the start of training camp until his contract is finalized. General Manager Don Sweeney expressed disappointment on Wednesday that a deal hasn’t been reached with the restricted free agent yet. However, Sweeney remains confident that Swayman will sign before the Dec. 1 deadline, which is required for him to play this season.
Last season, Swayman and Linus Ullmark shared regular-season duties, but Swayman emerged as the go-to guy in the playoffs, playing in 12 games compared to Ullmark’s 2. Boston showed their belief in Swayman by trading Ullmark to the Senators during the offseason. The 25-year-old goalie has a career goals-against average of 2.34 and a .919 save percentage over four seasons.
