JUST IN: Giants sign another QB key man in blockbuster trade Replacement

The New York Giants, sitting at 0-2, seem to be heading nowhere fast. If their fortunes don’t change, they may soon reconsider their starting quarterback situation. Should the team move on from Daniel Jones, their alternatives would be Drew Lock or Tommy DeVito. While both quarterbacks have had some NFL experience, neither has shown the consistency needed for prime performances. Lock holds a 9-14 record from his time with the Broncos and Seahawks, while DeVito went 3-3 with the Giants last season.

Giants GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll, now in their third year, saw success in their first season but faltered last year, and 2024 has started off on the wrong foot. If they decide to make a bold move to turn things around, and potentially save their jobs, a trade for Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young might be on the table.

Though drafted first overall in 2023, Young has been benched in favor of Andy Dalton by new Panthers head coach Dave Canales. Despite public statements suggesting Young isn’t on the trade block, Carolina might be open to offers. His trade value has dipped, but New York could leverage their future draft picks, like a 2025 third-rounder and a later selection, to make a deal. Young is still under his rookie contract, so acquiring him would be a financial commitment, but if the Giants find a way to move Jones or release him, Young could be a potential fit in New York.
