The Patriots have quickly been struck by injuries, leading to roster changes on Wednesday. They signed rookie defensive lineman Jamree Kromah from the Chicago Bears’ practice squad and placed linebacker Oshane Ximines on injured reserve.
Ximines’ knee injury, sustained during Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, prompted his swift move to IR. While the team hasn’t disclosed the injury’s severity, he’ll be sidelined for at least four weeks.
The Patriots had high hopes for Ximines this season, with Jerod Mayo praising his progress during training camp, highlighting his performance both on defense and special teams. Mayo emphasized the importance of having strong contributors like Ximines to win games.
Kromah’s addition is notable as he comes directly from Chicago, despite the Patriots having internal options like Ochaun Mathis, Jacqulin Roy, and Jotham Russell to fill the edge position. Kromah, 24, was signed by the Bears as a rookie free agent from James Madison earlier this year but was released after training camp, giving him a new opportunity with New England.
