LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Bears will be without wide receiver Keenan Allen for a second consecutive game due to a heel injury.
Allen hasn’t participated in practice since the Friday before the season opener against the Tennessee Titans. He re-aggravated the injury during that game and missed the Bears’ Week 2 loss to the Houston Texans.
Although the Bears hoped Allen’s heel would improve with rest, the veteran wideout isn’t ready to return. For personal reasons, he also won’t be traveling with the team to Indianapolis.
Head coach Matt Eberflus said Allen’s heel is healing, and his speed is improving, but he’s still not ready to play.
Running back Travis Homer, fullback Khari Blasingame, and defensive tackle Zacch Pickens will also miss Sunday’s game against the Colts.
Homer was placed on injured reserve due to a finger injury.
Offensive guard Nate Davis re-aggravated his groin injury during the week and is listed as questionable for Sunday. If he can’t play, veteran Matt Pryor will step in at right guard.
In other news, left guard Teven Jenkins, who sat out Wednesday’s practice due to a bruised thigh, practiced fully on Friday and is cleared to play.
