Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark has been honored as the Associated Press 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, in addition to earning spots on the AP All-WNBA First Team and AP All-Rookie Team. The Fever’s No. 1 overall draft pick, Clark secured all 15 first-place votes for the AP Rookie of the Year award.
“This is an incredible honor to receive the AP Rookie of the Year award,” Clark said, via The Associated Press. “I couldn’t have achieved this without the support of my amazing teammates and coaches. We’re excited to carry this momentum into the postseason.”
After an extraordinary college career where she shattered the all-time NCAA scoring record and led Iowa to two consecutive national title games, Clark entered the WNBA with high expectations. Despite some early struggles with efficiency, she eventually found her rhythm, as did the Fever.
During her first 17 games, Clark averaged 16.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.4 steals, shooting 33.8% from beyond the arc. In the final 23 games, she improved across the board, posting a double-double with 21.4 points and 10.0 assists per game.
For the season, Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 8.4 assists, 1.3 steals, and shot 34.4% from three. She earned an All-Star selection and broke multiple records, including the WNBA’s single-season assist record, and set new rookie marks for points and three-pointers.
