Alabama football faced some injuries during their game against the Wisconsin Badgers, with defensive starters Malachi Moore and Qua Russaw, as well as third-string running back Richard Young, all leaving the field hurt.
On Monday, head coach Kalen DeBoer gave an update on their status, along with wide receiver Cole Adams, who was injured in the USF game and missed the Wisconsin matchup.
Regarding Moore, DeBoer shared: “I expect Malachi to return soon. He’s been practicing since the end of last week.” Moore left the game with a concussion in the second half, but DeBoer’s remarks suggest he should be ready for Saturday’s game in Tuscaloosa, which would be a big boost for Alabama’s young secondary.
As for Russaw, DeBoer said: “He’s still progressing and working through his situation. I’m optimistic, but we’ll see as the week goes on.” Russaw left the Wisconsin game after an injury in the second quarter. While it isn’t expected to be long-term, his status for Saturday remains uncertain. If he’s unavailable, Que Robinson, the team’s sack leader, and Keau Koht will likely take on more responsibilities.
DeBoer also mentioned that Adams has resumed practice, though not at full capacity, and they are easing Young back into action to avoid any setbacks. More updates are expected later in the week as the team monitors the injured players’ recovery.
