Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins are currently in a standoff, leading to a surge in trade rumors surrounding the goaltender.
Swayman is pushing for a long-term contract, but the two sides appear to be far apart in their negotiations. This has sparked speculation about potential trades, with some intriguing suggestions circulating online. One example, from NHL Trade Rumor, proposes that the Bruins might consider targeting Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson. The Ducks, aware of Swayman’s potential to become a franchise cornerstone, could even be willing to add a first-round pick in a deal for him.

For Anaheim, acquiring Swayman would be a strategic move. They’re hoping he could become a franchise goaltender to complement their promising young roster, which includes stars like Trevor Zegras, Leo Carlsson, and Cutter Gauthier. Adding Swayman might just push them into playoff contention as early as next season.
However, despite the rationale behind the trade, it might not make sense for the Bruins. Gibson recently underwent surgery, which could sideline him for a while, and trading for an injured player ahead of the season opener wouldn’t be in Boston’s best interest.
