While the outlook for the Notre Dame football team is generally positive, there is one concerning issue. Although the Fighting Irish still have a commitment from 2025 quarterback Deuce Knight, it has seemed for some time that he might be on the verge of decommitting.
There’s a glimmer of hope since he hasnβt officially committed to Auburn yet, which is surprising given the strong belief that he would choose the SEC school.
Reports indicate that Notre Dame has received a reprieve and may even host Knight for a visit to South Bend in the coming weeks. However, Auburn is intensifying its efforts, with other players actively recruiting Knight, and it appears to be making an impact.
Four-star running back Alvin Henderson, who is currently committed to Auburn after previously committing to Penn State, seems to have developed a bond with Knight. Their recent interactions on social media could be a source of concern for Irish fans.

Notre Dame football should worry more about Deuce Knight
Henderson tweeted at Knight, saying, βletβs do this …β and added, βAuburn family let him know where to come.β
While this is a fairly typical peer recruiting message, it was Knightβs response that raises some eyebrows. He quote-tweeted Hendersonβs original post, adding a handshaking emoji.
Itβs possible that Knight was simply showing respect to Henderson for reaching out. However, this situation remains one to monitor closely, especially as the anticipated visit date approaches.
