The Denver Broncos are starting to find their rhythm in the 2024 season, securing back-to-back wins over the Buccaneers and Jets. As they prepare for Sunday’s home matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, the team will return to practice on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, running back Tyler Badie won’t be participating due to a concerning injury sustained in Week 4. In response, the Broncos quickly began exploring alternatives.
According to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, the team conducted workouts for Salvon Ahmed and Elijah Dotson. On Tuesday, they signed former Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed to their practice squad.
To make room for Ahmed, the Broncos released wide receiver Kaden Davis, who had only recently joined the squad. The current running back group includes Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin, Blake Watson, and the injured Badie.
With Badie’s status uncertain and a potential stint on Injured Reserve looming, more roster changes could be coming. If Badie is placed on IR, he’ll be sidelined for at least four games, prompting Denver to bolster depth behind Williams and McLaughlin.
Ahmed, who was released by the Dolphins in August, joins the Broncos practice squad with a chance to be promoted to the active roster, though his future with the team remains uncertain. If the primary running backs stay healthy, Ahmed may find himself back on the waiver wire.
As the Raiders game approaches, Denver’s restructured backfield will face its next challenge in pursuit of a third straight win.
