DONE DEAL: Bruins sign new contract with Top Prospect on a Long-Term Ahead Of Matchup just now

The Bruins made a roster move ahead of their second-to-last preseason game on Thursday.

General Manager Don Sweeney announced that top prospect Fabian Lysell, who had been cut from the training camp roster on Sunday, was recalled from Providence. Despite his earlier cut, both Sweeney and head coach Jim Montgomery emphasized that the evaluation process was ongoing.

“We gave Fabian reps with different players in camp,” Sweeney said at Monday’s season-opener news conference. “Everyone sees his skill set, and we’re excited about it. Now it’s about helping him fit into the team game Montgomery wants. All young players go through this, but he’ll get another shot, and hopefully, he’ll make the most of it.”

Lysell recorded one goal and four shots on goal in three preseason games.

This move followed Boston’s waiver claim of goalie Jiri Patera from the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, as the team continues contract talks with Jeremy Swayman.

Boston faces the Los Angeles Kings in Quebec City on Thursday, with puck drop at 7 p.m. ET, before wrapping up their preseason against the Washington Capitals on Saturday.
