The pressure on Florida Gators coach Billy Napier remains intense, as he still needs to prove he’s the right fit to continue leading the team at The Swamp. Meanwhile, speculation persists about his job security, with rumors circulating that Napier could be on the hot seat.
To Napier’s credit, Florida has shown improvement after a sluggish start, winning three of their last four games. However, expectations in Gainesville are high.
Florida’s remaining schedule includes tough matchups against Georgia, Texas, LSU, and Ole Miss. These games could either provide Napier a chance to secure his position or further push Florida toward making a coaching change.
College football analyst J.D. PicKell of On3 predicts that Missouri Tigers coach Eli Drinkwitz could replace Napier at Florida. During his Week 9 picks segment, PicKell said, “I don’t fully trust Missouri, but I love Eli Drinkwitz. If I had to guess right now, I’d say he’s my choice for the next Florida head coach, assuming Napier is let go, which many of us expect to happen.”
This isn’t the first time Drinkwitz has been linked to Florida. However, he recently signed a $46 million contract with Missouri, while Napier’s deal with Florida is worth $51.8 million. Napier’s buyout for the 2024 season stands at $26.7 million, according to CBS Sports.
