COMMITMENT: Florida Gators Sign new contract with 3-star DB who de-committed from Rutgers

Kaylib Singleton, a three-star defensive back from Florida and a nationally ranked prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, is set to make an official visit to Syracuse football during the weekend of November 23. This news was shared by Rivals.com national analyst John Garcia Jr. on X (formerly Twitter).

Singleton, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 180 pounds, is a senior at Oakleaf High School in Orange Park, near Jacksonville, and also participates in track and field. He had committed to Rutgers in June but announced via X on October 20 that he was de-committing and reopening his recruitment.

His visit to Syracuse will coincide with the team’s non-conference game against UConn at the JMA Wireless Dome on November 23.

Singleton had received a scholarship offer from Syracuse head coach Fran Brown and his staff on March 9, as they have emphasized recruiting in Florida since taking over the program in December 2023.

According to 247Sports, Singleton holds offers from about 24 schools, including Florida, Rutgers, LSU, Michigan, Texas A&M, and Kentucky. In the 2025 cycle, he is ranked No. 747 overall, No. 66 at cornerback, and No. 101 in Florida by the 247Sports Composite. On3 ranks him No. 716 nationally, No. 71 at cornerback, and No. 92 in Florida.

Although Syracuse will have the chance to host Singleton, Florida may be tough competition in his recruitment, with several predictions favoring the Gators. Currently, Syracuse’s 2025 recruiting class, which includes several defensive backs like four-star athlete Demetres Samuel Jr., is ranked in the top 35 nationally by various recruiting sites.
