Jayden Daniels clinched an 18-15 victory for the Commanders with a thrilling 52-yard Hail Mary, adding another milestone to his rookie season.
Heading into Week 8 against the Chicago Bears, Daniels’ participation was uncertain due to a rib injury from the previous game against the Carolina Panthers. However, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn was relieved to see him take the field.
The game was intense, and as the Commanders teetered on the brink of a third loss, Daniels launched a desperate 52-yard pass in the final seconds. Receiver Noah Brown made the catch, securing the win. With this victory, Daniels became the first rookie quarterback since Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert in 2020 to earn multiple FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week Awards. Against the Bears, he completed 21 of 38 passes for 326 yards, threw for one touchdown, and added 52 rushing yards, with his game-winning Hail Mary becoming an instant highlight.
In honor of his FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week win, FedEx will donate $2,000 in Daniels’ name to an HBCU of his choice, supporting scholarships for HBCU students.
Daniels continues to prove his resilience and potential as a game-changing force for the Commanders, delivering unforgettable moments in his promising rookie season.
