The New York Yankees are looking to add one more infielder to complete their Juan Soto backup plan, and although they were once heavily linked to Alex Bregman, that option now seems unlikely. Patrick McAvoy of Sporting News recently proposed a hypothetical trade that could bring the infielder the Yankees need, but it would come with a hefty cost. McAvoy suggested that the Yankees acquire Minnesota Twins infielder Carlos Correa in exchange for top prospect Jasson Domínguez, among other players. While McAvoy acknowledges this trade is improbable, he believes it’s still within the realm of possibility.
The proposed trade would send Correa to the Yankees in exchange for a package featuring Domínguez (the Yankees’ No. 1 prospect), infielder Oswald Peraza, right-handers Ben Hess (No. 8 prospect) and Clayton Beeter (No. 19 prospect). McAvoy explains that, while this is a hypothetical deal, Correa’s arrival would solidify the Yankees as a top contender in the American League, given his six-year, $200 million contract and four additional vesting years.
While Correa would be a major addition to the Yankees, giving up Domínguez and three other prospects feels like a steep price to pay. Domínguez has been considered largely untouchable, so the question remains: would the Yankees be willing to part with him and several promising players for Correa?
