The Los Angeles Dodgers continue their impressive offseason spending spree, adding another big name to their roster.
Just a day after securing Japanese pitching sensation Roki Sasaki, the Dodgers bolstered their bullpen by agreeing to a four-year, $72 million deal with Tanner Scott, as reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan. MassLive’s Sean McAdam suggested the closer could earn up to $80 million, aligning with the Dodgers’ offer.
The Boston Red Sox had been linked to Scott earlier in the offseason, but after signing Aroldis Chapman, their pursuit of the left-hander seemed to cool. It remains unclear if Chapman will serve as Boston’s closer.
Scott was dominant in 2024, posting a stellar 1.75 ERA across 72 appearances with the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres.
Now, the lefty joins the defending World Series champions, further strengthening an already formidable roster. Along with Sasaki, the Dodgers have also signed two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell this offseason, cementing their status as the team to beat in MLB.
