Eagles say goodbye to another Super Bowl champion: Need to find a replacement soon

The Philadelphia Eagles have had a busy offseason after their Super Bowl LIX win.

The Philadelphia Eagles are facing another significant loss on the offensive line as free agent offensive tackle Fred Johnson is set to sign a one-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This comes just days after the team also lost offensive guard Mekhi Becton to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Eagles OL takes another hit

Becton, a former first-round pick by the New York Jets, found new life in Philadelphia last season after shifting to guard.

His strong play earned him a two-year, $20 million contract with the Chargers.

On his way out, Becton expressed gratitude toward the Eagles organization, particularly his teammates and offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland.

“The standard we upheld and the way we showed up for each other every single day, that’s what made this past season the most fun I’ve ever had playing football, and it was all because of the guys in that locker room,”Becton shared on social media.

He also credited Stoutland for believing in him and pushing him to reach new heights, saying, “You made me a better player but more importantly, a better man.”

Meanwhile, Johnson’s departure further depletes the Eagles’ offensive line depth.

The veteran lineman played in every game for Philadelphia last season, including all their postseason matchups, and started four contests.

With the Jaguars looking to bolster their protection for Trevor Lawrence, Johnson’s signing fills a critical need for Jacksonville.

For the Eagles, however, the challenge of replacing key contributors continues to grow.

The team has already lost several impact players this offseason, including Josh Sweat, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Isaiah Rodgers, and Kenneth Gainwell.

While the Eagles have consistently shown an ability to rebuild and adjust, these losses will test their depth as they prepare for another Super Bowl run.

The focus now shifts to how Philadelphia will address these departures.

Can they find suitable replacements to maintain their dominant offensive line, or will these exits create cracks in one of the league’s most consistent units?
