The Louisville Hood community is reeling in shock and grief after the senseless murder of 32-year-old Anthony “Tony” Thompson, a beloved local resident and devoted father of two.

According to eyewitnesses, Thompson was fatally shot outside a convenience store on West Broadway in the early hours of Sunday morning. Police have confirmed that they are investigating the incident as a homicide and are currently reviewing surveillance footage to identify the perpetrator.

Friends and family of Thompson have taken to social media to express their outrage, sadness, and condolences, remembering him as a kind-hearted, hardworking individual who was deeply committed to his community.

“Tony was more than just a friend; he was a brother,” said longtime friend and neighbor, Marcus Johnson. “He had a heart of gold and always looked out for those around him. His loss is devastating, and I can only hope that justice is served.”

Thompson’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses and support his two young children. A vigil is also planned for Thursday evening at the site of the shooting to honor Thompson’s memory and call for an end to senseless violence in the community.

As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. In the meantime, the Louisville Hood community is left to mourn the loss of a beloved member and to grapple with the harsh reality of violence that has claimed far too many lives.
