Insider’s Trade Pitch Has Titans Add $180 Million QB Instead of Cam Ward
Nearly every major mock draft being published in recent weeks has projected the Tennessee Titans to select Miami quarterback Cam Ward for the No. 1 pick. Ward has likely done enough to solidify himself as the top pick after an impressive offseason. However, the Titans have a lot of needs and a trade-down to accumulate more picks might still be appealing. ESPN’s Bill Barnwell pitched a three-team trade that would send the Cleveland Browns’ No. 2 pick, No. 67 pick and a 2026 second-round pick to the Titans while also having the Atlanta Falcons send Kirk Cousins to Tennessee. The Browns would get the No. 1 pick and a 2026 sixth-round pick from the Falcons while Atlanta gets a 2027 seventh-round pick from the Titans.
“Is this likely? Of course not. The Titans let backup quarterback Mason Rudolph leave and signed pass rusher Dre’Mont Jones to a one-year deal to replace Harold Landry III, which suggests they’re likely targeting Ward at No. 1,” Barnwell wrote. “Even if they weren’t taking Ward, the Browns might not take the bait. The Falcons are telling everyone who will listen that they want to keep Cousins. Again, I would be surprised if the Titans traded out of the top spot. I would just be less surprised than just about any other year.” This would have to be an appealing haul for the Titans just to move down one pick. They’d still be able to add a quarterback like Shedeur Sanders or star pass rusher Abdul Carter at No. 2 while also adding some valuable picks.
Cousins would make them at least competent at quarterback and he could be a good mentor for Will Levis if they still think there’s potential there. As Barnwell noted, this deal is unlikely but it’s easy to see why the Titans would be interested in making it happen.
