Breaking: Pirates announce the trade of right -hander to Brewers

Quinn Priester, a former first-round pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates, has been traded to the Milwaukee Brewers from the Boston Red Sox. This move marks Priester’s return to the NL Central Division, where he’ll likely slot into the Brewers’ rotation amidst several injuries to key pitchers.¹

## The Trade Details
The Red Sox acquired Priester from the Pirates last year in exchange for infield prospect Nick Yorke. However, Priester’s stint with the Red Sox was brief, and he’s now being sent to Milwaukee for minor league outfielder Yophery Rodriguez, a 2025 Competitive Balance Round A draft pick, and future considerations.

## Priester’s Performance
Priester’s time in the minors has shown promise, with a 25.8% strikeout rate and 8.5% walk rate, despite a 4.16 ERA since 2023. The Brewers are hoping he’ll help stabilize their rotation, which has been impacted by injuries to pitchers like Nestor Cortés and Tobias Myers.

## Impact on the Teams
The Red Sox seem to have gotten a good deal, acquiring Rodriguez, who ranks as Milwaukee’s No. 7 prospect and has impressed this season with a .417 batting average in High-A Wisconsin games. Meanwhile, the Pirates are adding depth to their infield with Yorke, who could potentially replace Nick Gonzales, currently out with a left groin strain.²
