Breaking: 5-star SG announce commitment to Miami

4-star SG from Montverde Academy set to visit Miami over the weekend

Four-star shooting guard Dante Allen, from Montverde Academy, is set to visit the University of Miami this weekend.

Four-star shooting guard Dante Allen, from Montverde Academy, is set to visit the University of Miami this weekend. Allen, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound combo guard, recently decommitted from Villanova and is exploring new opportunities. His recruitment opened back up in March 2025 following the dismissal of head coach Kyle Neptune. He has since drawn interest from several programs, including Miami, Georgia, Michigan, and Notre Dame.

Ranked No. 42 nationally in the Class of 2025 and No. 6 among combo guards, Allen has already made unofficial visits to Villanova and Georgia. His father, Malik Allen, is a former NBA player and current assistant coach for the Miami Heat. At Montverde Academy, Allen averaged 11.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. He has a shooting percentage of 48% from the field and 37% from three-point range.

Allen’s connection to Miami comes from his participation in the Nightrydas Elite AAU program. The head coach, Andrew Moran, was officially announced as one of the inaugural members of Jai Lucas’ first Hurricanes’ coaching staff. This addition could play a big role in Allen’s decision-making process and might just be the main reason he chooses Miami. Allen has earned invitations to events such as the NBPA Top 100 Camp and the USA Basketball Junior National Team minicamp because of his performances in high school and on the AAU circuit.

During his upcoming visit, Allen plans to focus on evaluating Miami’s basketball facilities and deepening his relationships with the coaching staff. Miami’s head coach, Jai Lucas, has emphasized the importance of recruiting local talent and building strong connections within Florida’s basketball community.

Allen’s visit helps Lucas build for the future and build off of the talent he has already gathered in the transfer portal over the last month. As Allen continues to evaluate his options, Miami seems like a strong contender in his recruitment.
