Ohio State is surprisingly interested in an intriguing transfer portal player

The Ohio State football team has the receiver room in the country. No one produces more top-level talent at one position year in and year out than the Buckeyes do with wide receivers. They usually just bring them in from high school and let them develop. The transfer portal is not something they usually dip into for that position.
This year, the Ohio State Buckeyes once again have great receivers on the roster. Jeremiah Smith might be the best player in all of college football. Carnell Tate is someone who is much better than people think, and Mylan Graham was one of the winners of the Spring Game.

Despite all of the talent that the Buckeyes have in that room, they are surprisingly sniffing around the transfer portal for another receiver. In fact, one prominent receiver, who is one of best kick and punt returners in the game, has heard from the Buckeyes while he’s in the transfer portal.
The Ohio State football team reaches out to Keelan Marion
BYU receiver Keelan Marion has been contacted by the Ohio State football team. Ohio State is one of several schools that have reached out to Marion.
BYU All-American transfer WR/KR Keelan Marion has heard from these 19 Schools since entering the Portal
In his career he’s totaled 76 Catches for 1,125 YDs & 12 total TDs
Marion has made more of an impact on special teams than he has with catching the football on offense. Ohio State finally got a punt return for a touchdown last year when Caleb Downs took one back to the house in a game against Indiana, but they would rather not risk an injury for him.
His special-teams prowess seems to be the biggest reason why Ohio State has reached out to him. Of course, Marion might want to contribute more on offense, so there is a chance that he ends up going somewhere else instead. Still, it’s notable that the Buckeyes reached out to him at all.
If Marion were to choose Ohio State, he would be the first transfer portal player at the receiver position that they would have brought in in the Ryan Day era. Of course, the Buckeyes have bigger roster holes that they are trying to fill with the portal first.
