BREAKING: Bruins 5-star newcomer’s mysterious absence explained just now

Elias Lindholm missed the second day of Bruins training camp, but it doesn’t appear to be a long-term concern.

Head coach Jim Montgomery said Friday that Lindholm’s absence was a “maintenance day” and that the team was being “extra cautious” with their high-profile free-agent center. Meanwhile, David Pastrnak offered a more playful explanation.

“It was good,” Pastrnak said of his first practice with Lindholm, via the Bruins. “Maybe he wasn’t used to the Czech pace. That’s why he needed a day off. It was fun. We had some good chances. I don’t think we’ll have any issues building chemistry. Lindy’s a smart player with a great hockey IQ.”

Lindholm is expected to bring a “killer instinct” to Boston’s power play. Despite a down season last year, playing alongside a dynamic scorer like Pastrnak could help him return to his 2021-22 form.

The Bruins kick off their preseason Sunday against the New York Rangers, with full coverage on NESN starting at 5 p.m. ET or after Boston Red Sox coverage.
