The Dallas Cowboys are already dealing with a depleted secondary after All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland was placed on injured reserve at the end of the preseason.
Rookie cornerback Caelen Carson has stepped up to fill the gap and has performed well so far.
However, Carson took some heavy hits during Sunday’s physical game against the Baltimore Ravens, particularly with running back Derrick Henry breaking through the defense.
Now, with a quick turnaround before Thursday night’s game against the division-rival New York Giants, Carson’s status is uncertain. He was listed as “Did Not Participate” (DNP) on Monday’s simulated injury report due to a shoulder injury.
Head coach Mike McCarthy updated the media on Tuesday, noting that Carson, nicknamed “Seatbelt,” will be a gametime decision.
Additionally, safety Markquese Bell was also a DNP, potentially putting the Cowboys in a tough spot if both are unavailable.
The Cowboys and Giants are set to kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium, with the game airing on Prime Video.
