Jeremy Swayman and Igor Shesterkin are considered two of the top goaltenders in the NHL, playing for the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers, respectively.
Currently, Swayman is in a contract dispute with the Bruins. Reports suggest that he is seeking a long-term contract, but the Bruins are reportedly unwilling to offer more than four years at a reduced rate.
On the other hand, Shesterkin is expected to negotiate a new contract soon, with speculation that he could ask for $12 million per year. As one of the league’s elite goalies, it’s uncertain whether the Rangers will meet his demands to keep him on the roster.
According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN, both goaltenders are aiming to reset the market for goalies. Shesterkin reportedly wants more than Carey Price’s $10.5 million annual contract, while Swayman is pushing for an eight-year deal at a similar price.
