Ryan Whitney and Don Sweeney found themselves in disagreement over some reporting related to the Boston Bruins’ negotiations with Jeremy Swayman. Whitney stated that the Bruins had proposed a four-year deal worth $6.2 million AAV to Swayman and claimed that Sweeney wasn’t responding to any of Swayman’s calls. This controversial report caused a stir among Bruins fans, who directed their frustrations at the General Manager.
In response, Sweeney pushed back, asserting that the Spittin Chiclets podcast was merely creating drama. Although he didn’t mention Whitney by name, it was evident he was targeting him. You can check out Sweeney’s comments in the video clip below.

In the latest episode of Spittin Chiclets, Ryan Whitney responded to Sweeney, expressing that Sweeney has never been fond of him and he can’t quite figure out why. Whitney suggested that Sweeney is likely frustrated over mishandling the contract negotiations and is redirecting that frustration toward podcasters and the media. He even speculated that the Bruins might not have much faith in Swayman.
“I stand by what I was told. He’s gonna call me a liar, I think he’s fudging a little bit… Maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle. “I stand by what I was told. He’s going to call me a liar, but I think he’s bending the truth a bit. Maybe the reality lies somewhere in between. However, I knew the offer, and it was a lowball, disrespectful offer. This is a players’ podcast,” he said.
