After Alabama surrendered a 28-0 lead at home to No. 2 Georgia, head coach Kalen DeBoer witnessed two freshmen, who were still in high school earlier this year, save the team from losing its biggest game of the season. Moments after Georgia took a 34-33 lead, quarterback Jalen Milroe launched a deep pass to freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams. Williams made the catch, dodged two defenders, and sprinted into the end zone, igniting a wild celebration at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

However, Georgia wasn’t finished yet.
The Bulldogs remained determined to leave Tuscaloosa with a win. Despite already throwing two interceptions, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck took another risky shot downfield. This time, it was freshman cornerback Zabien Brown who made the game-saving play, sealing the victory for Alabama.

“It says a lot,” DeBoer commented on the two freshmen stepping up under pressure. “It shows they’re mentally ahead of their time. They’ve played enough snaps now to have confidence in themselves, and we all see it in practice.
They’re playmakers who fight and grind. They were exhausted, having played a lot of snaps and doing plenty of running, but they stayed true to what we ask of them, battling through all four quarters. They definitely earned the stripe down the middle of their helmets today.”
