Five-star linebacker recruit Zayden Walker has committed to Georgia, as he shared with 247Sports’ Benjamin Wolk. According to 247Sports, Walker ranks as the No. 2 linebacker and the 23rd overall prospect, while ESPN places him as the No. 2 linebacker and 15th overall prospect. He made the announcement on Wednesday through social media.

Georgia has pursued Walker “for years,” according to Wolk. His decision to commit follows an official visit to Athens last weekend, as reported by On3’s Chad Simmons.
As a junior at Schley County High in Ellaville, Georgia, Walker played both linebacker and running back. On defense, he recorded 40 tackles, including 16.5 for loss, and 7.0 sacks, according to MaxPreps.
247Sports recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna envisions Walker as a “3-4 off-ball linebacker” at the college level, with the ability to be utilized as a situational pass rusher.
Walker’s choice to commit was significantly influenced by his strong connection with Georgia’s defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann, Wolk noted. Schumann appeared to celebrate Walker’s commitment on social media as well.

Schumann has reportedly attracted interest from other teams, including the Philadelphia Eagles, but chose to remain with head coach Kirby Smart at Georgia after his salary was raised to nearly $2 million last year. That investment could pay off for the Bulldogs if Schumann continues to help attract top talent.
Walker is the 10th recruit to commit to Georgia this offseason, joining fellow five-star recruit tight end Elyiss Williams in the class. Georgia’s recruiting class is now ranked ninth in the nation by 247Sports, trailing Alabama but ahead of Penn State.
