Alabama is riding high after a major victory over Georgia, but head coach Kalen DeBoer is intent on keeping his team focused as they head into a potential trap game against Vanderbilt in Nashville.
The Crimson Tide’s 41-34 win over the Bulldogs was their biggest of the season, withstanding a late comeback. Heisman contender Jalen Milroe delivered an outstanding performance, throwing for 374 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 117 yards and two more scores.
Freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams had a breakout game with six receptions for 177 yards, including the game-winning touchdown.
Now ranked No. 1 in the country, Alabama is a 23-point favorite going into their matchup with Vanderbilt, according to ESPN BET. However, DeBoer is determined to avoid complacency.
Taking a cue from Nick Saban, he placed mouse traps around the facility as a reminder of the dangers of falling into a trap game.
Saban famously used the same tactic last season before facing Kentucky in a similarly perceived trap game. Vanderbilt has had an up-and-down season, but showed their competitiveness last week, pushing No. 7 Missouri to double overtime before losing 30-27.
