Caitlin Clark’s remarkable rookie season came to a close when the Indiana Fever were eliminated in Game 2 by the Connecticut Sun this past Wednesday. As the WNBA’s No. 1 overall pick, Clark’s arrival generated immense excitement, drawing widespread attention to women’s basketball. Her games were must-watch events, consistently breaking viewership and attendance records.
However, with Clark now out of the playoffs, there is concern that postseason viewership might significantly decline. ESPN seems to be preparing for this possibility.

This past Sunday, the second-round playoff game between the Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty aired on ABC, while the first-round Game 1 between the Minnesota Lynx and Connecticut Sun was shown on ESPN.
However, subsequent games, including Game 3 and possible Game 5 matchups for these series, are set to air on ESPN2. Notably, both of Clark’s playoff appearances were broadcast on ESPN’s main channel.
Fans have expressed frustration with the scheduling, with one commenting, “ESPN2? They really said no Caitlin Clark? Bye!” Others criticized the decision, calling it “shameful and disrespectful.” Another added, “If CC was still in, these games wouldn’t be on ESPN2. This is a major misstep.”
The Liberty secured a 77-87 victory over the defending champion Aces in Game 1 on Sunday afternoon, while the Game 1 clash between the Sun and Lynx is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. ET tipoff.
