The No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs faced off against the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide in a highly anticipated matchup during Week 5 of the college football season.
The Bulldogs, led by Kirby Smart, came into the game boasting a 42-game regular-season winning streak.
With two of the last three national championships under their belt, Georgia was seen as a slight favorite against Alabama, which was led by first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer and entered the game undefeated.
However, Alabama’s home-field advantage at Bryant-Denny Stadium proved overwhelming for Georgia, especially in the first half. Star quarterback Jalen Milroe accounted for four touchdowns in the opening 30 minutes, and the Crimson Tide added a safety, giving them a commanding 30-7 lead at halftime.
Despite having two weeks to prepare, Georgia’s renowned defense struggled to contain Milroe, both as a passer and a runner.
The Bulldogs had previously faced him in the 2023 SEC Championship Game under Nick Saban, where they lost 27-24, suggesting that Georgia might have come into this year’s game with a more strategic plan.
