DONE DEAL: Dolphins complete signing of a Star LB Off Seahawks’ to strengthen squad depth just now

The Dolphins, in need of depth at edge rusher, are set to add Tyus Bowser from the Seahawks’ practice squad, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. With Jaelan Phillips out for the season due to a knee injury and Bradley Chubb still sidelined, Miami is thin at the position.

Bowser, 29, who missed last season but appeared in two games for Seattle this year, could play a rotational role as he seeks a full-time spot in 2024.

After being elevated for Weeks 3 and 4 with Seattle, Bowser logged 38 defensive snaps before his practice squad contract was terminated to allow him to sign with Miami. He’ll reunite with Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, who worked with Bowser during his time in Baltimore, where Bowser recorded 19.5 sacks over 89 games.

Bowser’s versatility in defending the run and dropping into coverage sets him apart from rookies Chop Robinson and Mohamed Kamara. He could see significant playing time alongside Robinson and Emmanuel Ogbah, and once Chubb returns, the Dolphins’ edge rotation will be more solid. Bowser’s experience, including 24 career starts, could bolster Miami’s defense while boosting his market value.
