Nick Saban shared during ESPN’s “College GameDay” on Saturday that he texted Kirby Smart after Georgia’s 41-34 loss to Alabama the previous week.
While the fact that 72-year-old Saban texted someone might seem noteworthy, the former Alabama coach revealed the content of his message to his ex-defensive coordinator.
“I know how disappointed everyone in Georgia must have felt after the loss,” Saban said. “I texted Kirby and told him, ‘This isn’t the worst thing that’s happened.’”
He added, “Many of our best teams lost at some point, but they bounced back due to strong leadership that kept the team focused on what it takes to succeed.”
