DONE DEAL: Chicago Bears confirm new Block Buster signing of Key man after long negotiations just now

Earlier today, the Chicago Bears promoted defensive tackle Byron Cowart from their practice squad to the active roster. Having already been elevated three times this season, league rules required the Bears to officially add him to their 53-man roster.

Cowart fills the spot created when tight end Stephen Carlson was placed on injured reserve last week.

The Bears are facing another shortage at defensive tackle, with Zacch Pickens ruled out for tomorrow’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

Next week, the Bears could opt to designate offensive linemen Larry Borom and Ryan Bates, defensive end Jacob Martin, and long snapper Patrick Scales for a return from injured reserve.

Each team can designate up to eight players to return from IR during a season, with postseason teams receiving two additional designations.
