The Green Bay Packers lost offensive lineman Lecitus Smith from their practice squad to the New England Patriots on Tuesday, as the Patriots added him to their 53-man roster. This move left the Packers with only one offensive lineman on their 17-man practice squad and an open roster spot.
In response, Green Bay quickly signed offensive lineman Spencer Rolland, who had originally joined the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent earlier this year. A native of the Twin Cities, Rolland was waived by the Vikings during roster cuts.
The 6’6″ tackle started his college career at Harvard, playing four years in the Ivy League before transferring to North Carolina, where he started all 26 games over two seasons. Rolland also caught the attention of the UFL, being selected by the Arlington Renegades in the eighth round of the league’s 2024 college draft this past July.
