The Denver Broncos’ offense has faced criticism, prompting suggestions of a trade to improve performance. While they’ve managed to score, it’s often during comeback efforts. To avoid slow starts, the team needs to establish a better run-pass balance, but they’ve struggled to find consistency in either area. Rookie QB Bo Nix’s deep-pass issues have led the team to rely on short passes while neglecting the running game.
NFL analyst Maurice Jones-Drew proposed a trade idea: acquiring New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara before the November 5 trade deadline. This would give head coach Sean Payton time to consider it. Jones-Drew highlighted that Kamara, a five-time Pro Bowler, could be an ideal fit for Payton’s offense, as the Broncos’ attack ranks poorly in both overall offense and rushing.
The proposed trade would send Javonte Williams, QB Zach Wilson, and a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Saints in exchange for Kamara. Despite Kamara’s consistent production and strong career stats, the Saints are on a losing streak, and with starting QB Derek Carr sidelined, the team’s situation appears shaky. While the trade could provide a boost to the Broncos, financial challenges and Kamara’s desire to retire with the Saints make the deal unlikely.
Moving Kamara midseason would leave the Saints with significant dead cap space, making it more practical for them to wait until the offseason to consider a trade, especially as they evaluate their playoff hopes once Carr returns.
