As the trade deadline approaches, the Chicago Bears are reportedly attracting interest in two players. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport shared this information on Saturday, highlighting offensive guard Nate Davis and running back Khalil Herbert as trade targets.
Davis, 28, is seen as “a potential key depth piece for a team in need,” according to Rapoport. He has fallen on the Bears’ depth chart behind Matt Pryor and Bill Murray and has struggled with health issues during his two seasons in Chicago. Last week, Davis was a healthy scratch in the Bears’ win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. He has started two games this season and 67 in his career. With the anticipated return of offensive linemen Ryan Bates and Larry Borom from injured reserve, Davis may find himself further down the depth chart. A change of scenery could offer him more playing time, as the Bears have considerable depth on the offensive line.
Herbert, 26, has also seen his role diminish this season with the addition of D’Andre Swift, who has taken on the majority of the running back responsibilities. Roschon Johnson has emerged as the No. 2 running back, resulting in Herbert receiving fewer snaps. In the last three games, Herbert has played just six offensive snaps. Given the ongoing injuries in the running back position across the league, other teams may seek to acquire his talent. Over 48 career games, Herbert has recorded 372 carries for 1,791 yards (averaging 4.8 yards per carry) and nine touchdowns. In 2024, he has had eight carries for 16 yards (2 yards per carry) and one touchdown. Davis and Herbert are among nine players mentioned on Rapoport’s trade target list.
