Alabama football secured another major commitment for its 2025 recruiting class on Tuesday, flipping four-star tight end Marshall Pritchett from North Carolina. Pritchett, a prospect from Rabun Gap, Georgia, had been committed to the Tar Heels since the spring, but Alabama’s coaching staff persisted in their recruitment and eventually landed him as part of their highly ranked class.
“I was pretty set on my commitment to North Carolina when I started camp,” Pritchett told Bama247. “(Coach Bryan) Ellis, (Coach Kalen) DeBoer, and (Coach Nick) Sheridan kept pushing, and it felt like my decision to flip was inevitable. The way Alabama uses its tight ends, spreading the ball downfield while still running 12 personnel, was a big factor. Seeing how they get players like CJ Dippre and Robbie Outz involved really excited me about what I could do in their offense.”
Ranked as the No. 15 tight end in the country by Top247, Pritchett is also the No. 22 tight end nationally and the No. 50 prospect in Georgia according to 247Sports Composite rankings. His addition brings Alabama’s 2025 class to 23 commits, including another tight end, four-star Kaleb Edwards.
Pritchett said Alabama’s football prestige was too hard to resist, calling it “the gold standard of college football.” Growing up in a football-obsessed family—his father won a national title at Notre Dame—Pritchett saw the opportunity at Alabama as a perfect fit.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, Pritchett visited Alabama officially in June and returned for their game against Georgia in September, further solidifying his decision. He praised the coaching staff for making him feel like a priority throughout the process and noted that Alabama’s dominant performance during his visit left a lasting impression.
Reflecting on his recruitment, Pritchett expressed relief that it’s now behind him. “I’m ready to move forward. It’s been a roller coaster, but my decision is final,” he said. “I’ll start working in January, and I’m excited to be surrounded by top-tier talent, all aiming for a national championship. It’s going to create a strong bond within the 2025 class, and I can’t wait to be part of it.”
