As the November 5 trade deadline approaches, activity around wide receivers is ramping up. Following last week’s trade that sent Davante Adams to the Jets, another former Packer has found a new team.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who was released by the Buffalo Bills last week to make room for Amari Cooper, has signed with the New Orleans Saints.

Valdes-Scantling, a fifth-round pick by the Packers in the 2018 NFL Draft, spent four seasons in Green Bay before signing a three-year, $30 million contract with the Chiefs.
While he didn’t quite meet the expectations tied to his contract, he played a crucial role in the Chiefs’ back-to-back Super Bowl victories, consistently elevating his performance in the playoffs. He was a key player in their title run last season.
After being released by Kansas City, MVS signed with the Bills during the 2024 offseason. However, his season got off to a rough start, with just two catches for 26 yards before being cut.
In his prime with the Packers, Valdes-Scantling was known as one of the league’s top deep threats. In 2020, he averaged an impressive 20.9 yards per reception, helping Green Bay reach the NFC Championship game, where he posted 115 yards and a touchdown, though the Packers fell to Tom Brady’s Buccaneers.
Now in New Orleans, Valdes-Scantling will aim to revive his career. While his days of playing for championship contenders might be behind him, he could still be a valuable asset for a team seeking an offensive boost.
