Jordan Love recently shared his thoughts on the addition of Robert Saleh to the Green Bay Packers coaching staff. After being let go as the head coach of the New York Jets, Saleh has joined Matt LaFleur’s team, marking a return to working with LaFleur, who had initially helped him get started in his coaching career.
Despite Saleh’s strong background as a defensive coach, including his time as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, he will have a role in the Packers’ offense.
Love emphasized how having a defensive-minded coach like Saleh on the offensive side could help the team. He believes Saleh’s insights can be valuable in preparing for defensive coverages they may encounter.
“Having a defensive mind talking offense and helping us with things he might be able to see, some of our scheme stuff, things the defense might be looking for, it helps,” Love explained.
Saleh, known for leading strong defenses, joins a Packers team that has shown promise. Despite expectations of a difficult 2023 season following the trade of Aaron Rodgers to the Jets, Love exceeded expectations, leading the Packers to an unexpected playoff berth and a dominant victory in the wild-card round.
This season, after returning from a knee injury in Week 1, Love has steadily improved. He has completed 61.5% of his passes for 1,351 yards and 15 touchdowns but has also thrown eight interceptions, tying for the league high.
Currently, the Packers hold a 5-2 record as they prepare for their Week 8 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, putting them in a strong position to compete for the NFC North title.
