DONE DEAL: Cowboys confirm 2 Blockbuster trades just now to avoid 2024 NFL Trade Deadline

The Dallas Cowboys are struggling this season, sitting at 3-3 as they head into a crucial Week 8 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. A loss could push them into a losing record, with tough games against the Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, and Houston Texans looming. This raises the question of what moves they might make ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

If things go south quickly, the situation could worsen, but team owner Jerry Jones could pull off a few trades to try to turn the season around. In Texas, where everything is bigger, Dallas could make some big moves. Here are two potential trades that could get them back on track.

### Trade for Defensive Tackle Dalvin Tomlinson
The Cowboys’ run defense has been one of their biggest letdowns, allowing 143.2 rushing yards per game, which ranks fifth-worst in the NFL. To address this issue, they could bring in Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson to reinforce the middle of the line alongside Mazi Smith and Osa Odighizuwa. According to a trade suggestion from *The Athletic*, Dallas could offer a conditional fifth or sixth-round pick for Tomlinson, who is ranked in the 75th percentile at his position by PFF. Though he’d be a rental with no guaranteed money beyond this season, Tomlinson’s size (6’3″, 325 pounds) could be a key factor in shoring up the Cowboys’ run defense.

### Consider Adding Chase Young for Pass-Rush Help
Another move the Cowboys could make is trading for Chase Young, the former No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft, who is now with the New Orleans Saints. Young has yet to live up to his lofty expectations, but he showed flashes of his potential during the 49ers’ Super Bowl run last season, including recording a sack in the Super Bowl. With DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons both dealing with injuries, Young could provide much-needed pass-rush support. His current production—10 tackles and 1.5 sacks—suggests he could be a low-risk, high-reward addition for the Cowboys.

These potential trades could help Dallas address their key weaknesses and possibly save their season.
