ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Texas Rangers reliever David Robertson has declined his $7 million mutual option for next season, opting instead for a $1.5 million buyout, making him a free agent.
Robertson had initially signed a one-year deal in January with a $10 million salary, half of which was deferred without interest.
The 39-year-old right-hander finished the season with a 3-4 record, a 3.00 ERA, and two saves over 72 innings in 68 games, recording 99 strikeouts and 27 walks.
Across his 16-year MLB career, Robertson has compiled a 66-46 record, a 2.91 ERA, and 177 saves, playing for teams including the New York Yankees (2008-14, 2017-18), Chicago White Sox (2015-17), Philadelphia Phillies (2019, 2022), Tampa Bay Rays (2021), Chicago Cubs (2022), New York Mets (2023), Miami Marlins (2023), and Texas Rangers.
