Chicago Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson became an internet sensation on Sunday after being caught on camera taunting Washington Commanders fans, unaware that the Commanders had already snapped the ball for their successful Hail Mary attempt to win the game.
Stevenson eventually jumped back into the play and almost deflected the pass to secure a Bears victory, but Commanders receiver Noah Brown managed to grab the ball, completing the improbable game-winning touchdown.
Since Sunday afternoon, fans have poked fun at Stevenson’s lapse in focus leading up to the Hail Mary. Adding fuel to the fire, a clip has surfaced showing Stevenson engaging in playful trash talk with Commanders fans during pregame warmups.
The playful exchange even included a friendly handshake bet, but it was a rough ending for Stevenson, who endured a tough day in the Bears’ narrow road loss to the Commanders.
